Session 1 - REPLICA x2

Review

  1. Meetings.  Everyone present in class must attend the meeting, and only those who were in class can attend the meeting.
  2. Complete contact info sheets.
  3. Start a group diary, for example a notebook in which all the main points are summarized and noted down.  This will be the basis of your group portfolio, from which you will write your end of class report.
  4. Name & logo.  Brainstorm a name and logo for your group (team).  Choose something relatively simple, memorable, and positive sounding.
  5. Discuss REPLICA in your group.  Fill out the Group REPLICA Debriefing form.  Note letter of group, names of people, date, start and end times, meeting place.

Preparation for next session

  1. Presentation.  Prepare a short PowerPoint presentation, 10 mins max.  Summarize the main feelings, results, points, ideas, impressions, etc. of your REPLICA experience and debriefing.  Practice the presentation.  Have it ready for the next class.
  2. Discuss Team Duties.  Enter your ideas in the first column of the "Team roles & duties" form.

Report

To save time later, start your group report.  Do sections 1, 2 and 3.  The first part will be about REPLICA.  Details on how to do your report are here.  Keep it as short as possible.  Bring to next class, so that I can see if things need to be changed.

Session 2 - Presentations; Preferences wheel

Review

Prepare a graphic representation of how each person in your group fits together in regard to preferences.  It may be using the wheel from class; it may be another form.  You may use the labels from the class wheel; you may use other labels (for example that you find in documents on the web or in teams on this web site.

Preparation for next session

  1. Presentation.  Prepare a short PowerPoint presentation, 5 mins.  Include:  Present your group wheel; discuss how much it reflects what you feel and think about each person and the group; indicate what implications it has for each person and for the emerging team.
  2. Finish all things not done from Session 1, and show in class.
  3. Be prepared to show your diary.

Peace and survival of life on Earth as we know it are threatened by human activities that lack a commitment to humanitarian values.  Destruction of nature and natural resources results from ignorance, greed, and a lack of respect for the Earth's living things... .  It is not difficult to forgive destruction in the past, which resulted from ignorance.  Today, however, we have access to more information, and it is essential that we re-examine ethically what we have inherited, what we are responsible for, and what we will pass on to coming generations.  Clearly this is a pivotal generation... .  Our marvels of science and technology are matched if not outweighed by many current tragedies, including human starvation in some parts of the world, and extinction of other life forms... .  We have the capability and responsibility.  We must act before it is too late.  Tenzin Gyatso the fourteenth Dalai Lama.
